HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads Majors Little League team edged Big Flats 2-1 in nine innings to advance to the District 6 title game.
Horseheads will meet Corning, an 11-1 winner over Bath in the semis, in the final.
Horseheads scored in the fourth as Jesse Schuyler singled, stole second and scored on an Eli single.
The game stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when Maxwell tripled with one out for Big Flats and scored on a groundout off the bat of Brycen.
IN the ninth inning with Kaiden Rijo starting on second for extra innings, Eli walked and Rijo stole third. Rijo scored on a wild pitch to put Horseheads up 2-1.
In the bottom of the ninth Rijo struck out the side to end the game.
Schuyler worked five innings on the mound, allowing a hit and striking out 13. Rijo worked three innings, allowing three hits, and striking out five.
Ricky Graham went 6 2/3 innings for Big Flats, allowing five hits and a run, striking out 11. Jaxon worked 1 1/3 innings, allowing a hit and an unearned run.
Bren don had two hits for Horseheads and Eli had a hit and an RBI. Schuyler had a hit and scored a run and Rijo scored a run. Liam and JJ each had a hit in the game.
Maxwell had a triple and scored the Big Flats run and Lincoln, Mantle and Graham had hits.
Connor Cuda was 3-for-3 with a grand slam, six RBI and a run scored for CPPLL in their win.
The title game is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Horseheads.
