HORSEHEADS HITMEN FALL IN HOME OPENER DESPITE STRONG START ON THE MOUND BY FORMER CORNING STANDOUT MONROE (2026-06-07)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads Hitmen fell to the Hornell Steamers 5-1 on Friday night in the home opener for the HItmen. 

The game was scoreless through five innings as both starting pitchers traded zeroes. 

Horseheads starter Connor Monroe, a Corning grad, had a strong outing, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out six over six innings. 

Ben Karmasnski had two hits for the Hitmen. Edison senior Niko Cheplick started at second base for the Hitmen.
