Southern Tier Sports ReportAPALACHIN — Delaney Abel shot a 68 and the Corning Hawks won the STAC girls’ golf championship on Thursday.
Abel shot a three-under par on the day, shooting a blistering 31 on the back-nine as Corning shot 393 as a team.
Abel was 13 shots better than anyone else in the field.
Vestal shot 414, Waverly was at 424, M-E was at 427 and Horseheads was at 431, while Elmira shot 518.
Along with the 68 fro Delaney Abel, the Hawks got a 92 from her sister Harper Abel. That was the third lowest score in the field and one of only four girls who shot under 100 on the day.
Tess Barber shot a 110 for Corning and Camryn Fusare shot a 123, while Zoe Martin was at 124. Caroline Welch shot a 149.
Horseheads got a 102 fro Lydia Rockwell and Ellie Padgett shot a 103. Jemma Randle shot a 108 and Lacey Titsworth had a round of 118. Liv Sumner shot a 139, while Abby Sumner shot a 156.
Mary Collins shot 121 for Elmira and Hannah Reynolds shot a 126. Kiersten Oakley shot a 127 and Alyssa Murphy shot a 144. Layla Campanelli shot a 147, while Jayden Mann had a 151.
Allison Yoon had the second low score on the day for Vestal with an 81 and Sian Jeoung had the fourth best score at 97. Sophie Kocick shot a 113 and Julia Groves had a 123. Addie Weblog shot a 127 and Laila Campoli shot a 137.
Addison Hunt shot 104 for Waverly and Sophia Sileo shot 106, while Emelia Mitchell and Olivia Cheresnowski each shot rounds of 107.
Cameron Salmon shot a 103 and Rylie Vale shot 106. Mia Zatley and Zoe Anastos each shot 109. Lizzy Maraski shot 117 and Maddie MdcIntyre shot 125 for Maine-Endwell.
