THE SPORTS REPORTS: HORSEHEADS' SULLIVAN, CORNING'S JOHNSTON, WAVERLY'S AULT NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2026-05-15)

Horseheads sophomore Brogan Sullivan had a monster week on the lacrosse field, while Waverly senior Ronin Ault and Corning senior Matti Johnston were dual-threats on the diamonds last week. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 9.

HORSEHEADS' SULLIVAN, WAVERLY'S AULT NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM BOYS REGIONAL "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Sullivan recorded 23 points in three games, including 11 goals and 12 assists.

Sullivan had two games with four goals and four assists, and another with three goals and four assists.

Ault hit .714 on the week, had three consecutive three-hit games, homered in three straight games, and earned a win on the mound during Waverly's 4-0 week. On the week, Ault had 10 hits in 14 at-bats with seven runs scored, three home runs, 12 RBI, and one stolen base.

He was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, one RBI, and one stolen base, and allowed one earned run in six innings of three-hit ball with four strikeouts and two walks in a 17-4 win over Owego Monday.

Ault was 3-for-4 with a home run, one run scored and four RBI in a 6-3 win over Owego. He followed that up Thursday with a 3-for-4 effort with a home run, and five RBI in a 9-6 win over Oneonta. He finished off his week Friday with a two-run home run in two at-bats in a 12-3 win over Owego.

Honorable Mentions: Sayre's Hudson Malanoski (track & field), Towanda's Jazick Brown (track & field), North Penn-Mansfield's Deakon Valentine (track & field), and NP-Mansfield's Brock Dietrick (baseball).

CORNING'S JOHNSTON NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM GIRLS REGIONAL "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Johnston was 5-for-6 at the plate with one home run, two triples, seven RBI and six runs scored. In the circle, Johnston fanned 25 in 10 innings, while allowing no earned runs and just three hits.

On Monday, Johnston struck out 13 in a five-inning two hitter. She was 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored at the plate.

On Saturday, Johnston fanned 12 in a one-hitter against U-E. She was 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored, and a pair of triples.
