Southern Tier Sports ReportENDICOTT — The Corning softball team capped off a perfect regular season with a 12-0 win over Union-Endicott on Tuesday night.
The Hawks, ranked first in the state, finished the regular season 14-0.
Corning scored six runs in the first inning of the win.
Matti Johnston and Emelia Smith combined on a two-hitter. Johnston struck out seven and allowed a hit in three innings and Smith struck out six and allowed a hit in four innings. Both also hit home runs in the game.
Johnston was 3-for-5 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored. Smith had a home run, two RBI and a run scored. It was her second home run in two days.
Keana Mann was 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs scored and a double.
Lauren DeRosa had two hits, with a run scored and Hannah Kauffman had two hits, with two runs scored.
Mia Madden had two hits, with an RBI and two runs scored. Katie Grover had two hits, with a double, two RBI and a run scored.
Keira Brass had a hit and two RBI and Sophie Schoonover scored a run.
Corning plays at Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park in the STAC semifinals at 11 a.m. The Hawks play Waverly and Vestal takes on Susquehanna Valley. The winners play at 1 p.m. for the STAC title.
