STAC SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS NOTCHES PAIR OF WINS OVER UNION-ENDICOTT (17 PHOTOS) (2026-04-22)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads softball team picked up a pair of wins over Union-Endicott on Wednesday night.

The Blue Raiders finished off a 9-7 win in a game that started in March and then they won 20-1.

The 9-7 win started March 30. In that game Horseheads led 3-0 through the first five innings, but U-E scored five in the sixth.

Horseheads scored four in the seventh to lead 7-5, before U-E tied things in the bottom of the seventh.

On Wednesday the Blue Raiders resumed the game in the top of the eighth tied at seven and they quickly scored two runs and Reagan Burge closed out the win on the mound. Presley McInnis threw out a runner at first and Burge then got a strikeout to end the game. 

Caitlin Yearick had two hits, with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored and Aubrey Howe and Aubrey Maticic each had doubles in the game. Maticic had an RBI and a run scored and Howe scored two runs.

McInnis, Davis Young, Grace Croning and Aubrey Griffith all had hits in the game. McInnis scored a run and Young had an RBI and a run scored. Griffith scored a run and Briley Beach scored a run.

Reese O’Herron threw five innings, striking out two and Kolby Chaffee struck out two in two innings. Burge struck out one in a shutout inning. 

In Wednesday’s game Horseheads scored seven in the first and three in the second, before adding 10 runs in the fourth. 

McInnis was 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Zaylee Vang was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored and Maticic had two hits, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. 

Yearick was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored and Young had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. 

Howe had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored.

Mya Piecuch had a hit, a run scored and two RBI and Beach had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Cronin had two RBI and a run scored in the game and O’Herron had a hit and scored a run. 

Burge struck out five in four innings and O’Herron threw a shutout inning of relief, striking out one.
