ELMIRA — A Seamus Lynch goal in the fourth overtime lifted the Horseheads boys’ lacrosse team past Elmira 8-7.
Elmira jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the game, before Horseheads got a goal back late in the opening period.
In the second Elmira scored two more to lead 5-1 at the half, before Horseheads scored five goals in the third. Horseheads got a goal and Elmira two in the fourth.
Lynch had two goals and two assists and Brogan Sullivan had a goal and three assists.
Owen Johanson had two goals and an assist, while Zack Bennett had two goals and Colin Phillips added a goal.
Ben Potter had 15 saves for Horseheads an doe Briggs was 13-for-19 on face-offs.
“I don’t have many words after a four overtime game,” Horseheads coach Jason Neubauer said. “Both teams battled all game long and left it on the field. I thought both goalies were huge for their teams tonight. Good luck to Elmira moving forward.”
Avery Traugott-Knoll had three goals for Elmira and Ryan Ferraro had a goal and two assists.
Noah Hughes had two goals and Tucker Burnett finished with a goal, while Nolan Vororhees had an assist.
Liam Ogden had 20 saves in goal for Elmira.
Horseheads hosts Binghamton on Tuesday.
