Southern Tier Sports Report
CORNING — The Corning Hawks boys’ lacrosse team picked up a 17-9 win over Nichols Prep out of Buffalo on Friday night.

“I thought we came out a little tight with numerous unforced turnovers that led to a 5-5 half,” Corning coach Chris Hogue said. “But, the boys really focused and brought the ‘juice’ in the second half, especially the third quarter outscoring Nichols 8-0. Clayton Smith battled on face-offs all night. And, the defense, led by poles Logan Durand, Mike Lutton, Casey Barrett and Logan Phillips, along with the middies are really starting to gel and played well.”

Kohl Hogue led Corning with an eight-point game with six goals and two assists.

Dylan Brewster had three goals for Corning and Joe Fucito had two goals and an assist.

Taylor Freelove and Ashton Neatly each had a pair of goals and Parker Chapel had three assists.

Clayton Smith had a goal and Mikey Johnston had a goal, while Bradyn Zimmerman and Landyn Proudfoot each had assists.

Proudfoot had 10 saves in goal and Lachlan Asiello had three saves.
