Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS —Mason Markle threw a four-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts as the Horseheads baseball team beat Elmira 4-0 on Wednesday night.
Lyncoln Bennett and Beckett Diane had hits for Horseheads in the game. Ryan Cicciarelli had two RBI and Bennett had an RBI.
Markle scored two runs for Horseheads and Ben Torgalski and Cicciarelli scored runs for the Blue Raiders.
Jackson Cavalier, Logan Demember, Aedan Palmer and Quinn Hanrahan had hits for Elmira in the game, with Palmer hitting a double.
Cavalier worked five innings, allowing one run on four walks and not hits, striking out two.
Ryan Mathews worked 2/3 of an inning and Brock Carr got the final out for Elmira.
Horseheads is 5-3 on the year and 4-0 in the league.
