Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — Madi Smith threw a shutout as the Elmira softball team picked up a 3-0 win at Horseheads on Wednesday.
Smith struck out four and allowed six hits and one walk on the day.
Cate Lambert had three hits and two RBI for Elmira and Annabelle Decker had two hits and scored a run.
Ava Cornacchio, Rylee Gonzalez, Madelyn Cavalier and Smith all had hits in the game. Cornacchio and Gonzalez scored runs and Anna Osborne had an RBI.
Horseheads threw three pitchers on the day. Kolby Chaffee threw two innings, allowing a hit and striking out two, while allowing no runs. Reese O’Herron worked two innings, allowing two runs and Reagan Burge struck out one in three innings, allowing a run.
Presley McInnis and Briley Beach each had two hits for Horseheads and Caitlin Yearick and Burge had hits on the day.
