ELMIRA — The Elmira Express had four players with multiple hits, but came up short against Maine-Endwell 6-3 on Wednesday morning.
Maine-Endwell used a four-run third inning to lead 5-0. But, Elmira scored three in the fifth. The Spartans escaped a one-out, bases loaded situation to maintain a 5-3 lead on their way to the win.
Ava Cornaccio, Annabelle Decker, Rylee Gonzalez and Cate Lambert all had two hits in the game.
Decker had a double, two RBI and a run scored and Cornacchio scored a run, while Gonzalez had an RBI.
Hayden Pierce had a hit for Elmira.
Cornacchio worked 3 1/3 innings, striking out eight. Aleida Agosto struck out two in three innings of one-run relief.
