Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Elmira softball team got a combined three-hitter, with 12 strikeouts from Madi Smith and Ava Cornacchio and Cate Lambert drove in the winning run in the 6th in a 1-0 victory over Johnson City.
Smith struck out 10, allowing three hits in six innings for the win. Cornacchio threw a perfect seventh inning, striking out two for the save.
iN the sixth Rylee Gonzalez got a hit and scored on Lambert’s game-winning hit.
Lambert, Gonzalez, Anna Osborne, Annabelle Decker, Cornacchio and Aleida Agosto had hits in the game. Decker and Osborne had doubles.
