SECTION 4 BASKETBALL: HORSEHEADS' CRONIN NAMED ELMIRA OFFICALS SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD WINNER (2026-03-28)

The Elmira basketball officials board selected their annual sportsmanship award winners and Horseheads’ Grace Cronin was the girls winner.

Each year the officials nominate senior basketball players based on sportsmanship displayed during the season. Winners, their coaches and family are invited to the annual banquet and awarded a $250 scholarship and plaque. 

For the girls Cronin was the winner and the other nominees were Elmira’s Shamir Harris, Notre Dame’s Kalysta DeMark, Watkins Glen’s Rachel Vickio and Sade Gomez-Fitzsimons and Kait Sutton of Waverly.

For the boys the winner was Hogan Shaw of Waverly. The other nominees were Edison’s Mark Cornacchio, Elmira’s Dash Harris, Horseheads’ Keagan Zeller, Notre Dame’s Max O’Connor and Waverly’s Porter Daddona.
