Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The Corning Hawks opened the season with a 14-6 win over Horseheads on Wednesday night.
“I thought for our first game we did a really nice job in our settled situations on both offense and defense,” Corning coach Chris Hogue said. “As to be expected the middle of the field needs some work but extremely proud of the effort and how well we played as a team.”
Kohl Hogue had a 10-point game to lead the Hawks with five goals and five assists.
Clayton Smith had three goals and an assist and Joe Fucito had two goals and an assist.
Parker Chapel had a goal and two assists and Dylan Brewster and Taylor Freelove each had a goal and an assist, while Carter Proudfoot had a goal.
Landyn Proudfoot had five saves in goal for Corning.
Brogan Sullivan had two goals and an assist for Horseheads and Bo Briggs, Owen Johnson, Wyatt MacNeil and Seamus Lynch each had goals for Horseheads.
