Southern Tier Sports ReportJOHNSON CITY — The Elmira Express baseball team opened the season with an 8-0 win over Johnson City on Tuesday.
Aeden Palmer earned the win on the mound, allowing just two hits and no runs over six innings, striking out eight against just one walk. Carter Sherman pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two and allowing no hits or walks.
Logan Demember was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Palmer led Elmira with three RBI and went 2-for-3 on the day.
Dom Elllis was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Quinn Hanrahan had a hit and scored a run and Ryan Matthews and Jackson Cavalier scored runs in the game.
Michael Mackey and Lucas Warner had the Johnson City hits.
Elmira is at Binghamton on Friday.
