Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Lindsey Butler nearly brought home a national championship, as she led down the stretch, before finishing third in the 1500 at the USATF Indoor Championships.
Butler, a former national champion in the 800 at Virginia Tech, held the lead down the stretch, before being edged out in the final seconds to bring home the bronze medal.
Nikki Hiltz, an Olympian and 2005 World indoor silver medalist, is the U.S. record holder in the mile and as of 2025 had won eight straight U.S. titles across the mile and 1500.
The field included multiple former national champions and Olympians.
