Southern Tier Sports ReportALBANY — Horseheads’ Zachary Schrage advanced to the semifinals at the NYSPHSAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
With the pair of wins on Friday the Horseheads senior guaranteed himself a state medal.
Schrage, the fourth seed, edged John Schroff of Sachem East 3-2 in his opening round match on Friday.
In the quarterfinals the Horseheads senior won by technical fall 21-3 over Albert Smith of Maine-Endwell. It was a rematch of the sectional final, which Smith won over Schrage.
