Southern Tier Sports ReportITHACA — The Corning boys’ basketball team moves to 10-0 on the year with an 80-61 win over Ithaca on Wednesday night.
Corning is ranked 30th in Class AAA in the state.
The Hawks return home on Saturday with a 1:45 p.m. varsity start against Elmira. The Hawks have played eight of their first 10 games on the road.
Corning led 20-14 after one quarter, but Ithaca tied the game at 36 at the half.
Corning led by three after three, before outscoring the Little Red 25-9 in the fourth to close out the win.
Cater Proudfoot had a career-high 31 for Corning with seven rebounds, an assist and two steals and Nolyn Proudfoot had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, with an assist.
Kyler Stevenson had 18 points and five rebounds and Kohl Hogue had 10 points, nine boards and four assists.
