Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — The Corning boys’ basketball team moved to 3-0 on the year with an 81-64 win over defending state champion Binghamton on Friday.
Binghamton led 25-21 after one quarter, but Corning scored 27 in the second to lead 48-34 at the half.
Binghamton got within 65-55 after three quarters, but Corning outscored the Patriots 16-9 in the fourth to seal the win.
Nolyn Proudfoot had a big double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. He added a steal in the game. 29 of Proudfoot’s 30 points came in the first three quarters.
Kohl Hogue had 21 points for Corning, adding three steals, two assists, a rebound and a blocked shot and Kyler Stevenson had 18 points for the Hawks, with two rebounds and a steal.
Carter Proudfoot had five points, two rebounds and two steals and Teigen Gill had three points, two rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Joe Fucito and Arda Derman had two points each in the game.
Elijah Johnson had 27 points for Binghamton, with four second-half threes and six overall threes in the game.
Prync Wimberly had 13 points and Raymond Paulino finished with 10 points.
Corning hosts Johnson City with a 7:15 p.m. start Tuesday.
