Southern Tier Sports ReportVESTAL — The Corning boys and Elmira girls’ bowling teams brought home the titles at the STAC preseason tournament at Midway Lanes.
The Corning boys won the title with a dominant performance, winning the title and having the top individual as well.
Bentley Goodier turned in the top individual performance with a 768 series and Owen Watson shot 698 and Keegan Palmer-Mundt shot 618.
Max Aponte had a 226 game on the day and Jack Dunning added a 248 game on the day.
“With multiple bowlers surging past 600 and every athlete contributing meaningful frames, the Hawks set an early tone for the season — proving they are a force to be reckoned with in STAC competition,” Corning coach William Condon said.
The Corning girls had four bowlers on the day and shot 1,863 as a team.
The Elmira girls shot 2,801 on the day to win the title. They had games of 922, 942 and 937.
Madison Smith led Elmira with a 243-224-194-661 and Abbi Hank shot 200-204-223-627.
Mady Wasicki shot 223-168-212-603 and Izzy Stanley shot 149-180-170-499, while Evaya Gardner shot 107-166-138-411.
The Elmira boys took third at 3,173. They had games of 1,184, 978 and 1,011.
Peyton Rozzelle shot 247-225-240-712 to lead Elmira and Frankie D’Angelo shot 245-236-193-674.
Logan Card shot 245-214-182-641, while Carter Gardner shot 202-174-202-578 and Alex Gublo shot 245-129-194-568.
