“In a hard-fought Section IV semifinal matchup, the Corning Hawk girls’ soccer team defeated rival Elmira with a stellar defensive performance. The Hawks played with grit and unity, battling for every loose ball and keeping their composure under pressure. Key stops from the defense and decisive plays in transition proved to be the difference as Corning held off Elmira to secure the victory and a trip to the sectional final.

“Our defense really set the tone,” said Coach Pierce. “Every player showed heart and commitment—this was a total team effort. With the win, Corning advances to the Section IV championship, where they’ll look to carry the same focus, toughness, and team-first mentality that powered them past Elmira.”
