Southern Tier Sports ReportSOUTHPORT — MK Young had a hat trick as the Notre Dame girls’ soccer team topped Greene 3-1 in the Section IV, Class C quarterfinals.
“Long layoffs don’t help us, we ended up coming out without energy,” Notre Dame coach Joe Picco said. “They had an outstadning goalie, she kept them in the gae the first half after a flurry of shots and corners from Notre Dame.
“A lot of credit goes to Greene girls coming in and playing with a lot of desire and grit. Mentally, we were off today and the issue is that at this time of the year you don’t get second chances.”
Notre Dame, the second seed, will host No. 3 Bainbridge-Guilford at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the semifinals.
