
BINGHAMTON — Luca Capilli became the Elmira Express all-time career assists leader, while the Express captured the STAC West Championship with a 3-1 win over Binghamton on Friday.
Elmira, 11-1-1 on the year captures the STAC West Division title with a game remaining, and they are ranked fifth in the state in AAA.
Capilli had three assists, all to his brother Dom Capilli, and he now has 28 career assists, breaking Noah Sperduto’s career record.
“All credit goes to the boys,” Elmira coach Derek Hamilton said. “They have fought hard for each other all season long and they have earned their place at the top of the division.
“Congratulations to Luca Capilli. He set the Elmira Express program career record with his three assists tonight. It’s a testament to him and his relentless work ethic over the past four years. It’s only fitting that all three of his assists went to this brother.”
Dom scored in the 57th, 64th and 80th. Minutes. Binghamton’s goal was by May Wright in the 58th minute that had the game tied with 22 minutes to go.
