Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — The Horseheads Blue Raiders made the silver bracket final, Elmira won the bronze bracket and Corning made the gold bracket at the Horseheads Volleyball Tournament.
Horseheads lost to Trumansburg in pool play 25-18, 25-20 and beat Hornell 26-24, 25-17. They split with Baldwinsville 25-22, 16-25.
The Blue Raiders went 3-3 in pool play to make the silver bracket. In the quarterfinals they beat North Penn-Liberty 25-19, then beat Baldwinsville 25-19 in the seis. Horseheads fell to Owego in the silver final 22-25, 25-19, 14-16.
Kaelyn McCarthy had her 500th career assist on the day.
Alexxa Johnson had 29 kills, 20 digs, three aces and five blocks and McCarthy had 63 assists, nine digs and two aces.
Kailey McCormick had 20 kills, 16 digs, 10 aces and a block and Jemma Randall had 16 kills, 11 digs, five aces and a block.
Emelia Clark had eight kills, two aces, two assists and a dig and Madden Foster had 19 digs.
Kolby Chaffee had nine kills and three blocks and Kaitlyn Procopio had 10 digs and four aces, while Ashey Wenger had 12 assists and two digs.
Elmira beat SVE in the bronze final and Ithaca won the gold bracket over Whitney Point.
Corning was 6-0 in pool play, beating Waverly 25-14, 25-17, City Honors 25-17, 25-17 and Cuba Rushford 25-20, 25-8. They fell in the gold bracket as the top seed to Cuba Rushford 19-25.
