ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison girls’ soccer team was edged by Watkins Glendon Friday, 1-0.
“Incredibly proud of the effort from our team tonight,” Edison coach Kevin Weber said. “After a very difficult outing against an organized and well-coached Watkins Glen squad a few weeks ago, we made a few adjustments and kept ourselves in a competitive game today.
“Our focus the past few games has been to put out a consistent effort and to have positive play for the full 80 minutes, and I feel we did just that tonight. The girls moved and played together well as a cohesive group, working hard for each other off the ball, which was another big point of emphasis this week.”
The only goal of the game was an own goal at 23:38.
Watkins Glen had 18 shots and seven corners and Edison had five shots and a corner kick.
Kaylynn Tarby had 11 saves for Edison and Emma Cady had four for Watkins Glen.
Edison is at Newfield on Monday.
