IAC GIRLS' SOCCER: EDISON HANGS CLOSE IN FIRST HALF, FALLS TO USPB (2025-09-19)

Southern Tier Sports Report
ELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison girls’ soccer team kept the game at 1-0 at the half, before Union Springs/Port Byron pulled away in Friday’s 5-0 win.

USPB outshot the Spartans 12-5 and had four goals in the second half, including two in the final minute of the game.

“Coming off an emotional game Wednesday, and playing our fourth game in seven days, it was evident some of our spark was missing today,” Edison coach Kevin Weber said. “We were still able to create some quality chances forward in each half, including hitting two pots, but we’re just unable to maintain a sustained pressure.

“I’m very proud of the effort the girls put in today though the fatigue, especially from our defense, who put in a full 80 minutes for us. The job now is to rest, heal up, and regain that spark before heading into another tough stretch of games next week.”
