Southern Tier Sports ReportONEONTA — The Horseheads girls and boys each took second at the Dave Forbs Invite, while Mackenzie Baker won the girls race.
Bake, Suzie Sydlansky, Hannah Sydlansky, Sophia Christmas, Aubrey Houck, Alexus Borek and Stella Harrison took second for Horseheads on the girls side and Nick Nowal, Max Williams, Gavin Hornsby, Jack Sydlansky, Luke Dordoni, Dominick Marino and Finn Van Buskirk took second for the boys.
Kowal was second individually for the boys.
For JV boys Abdiel Basabakwins, Joseph Juan, RJ Bigelow, Nick Fears, Nolan Miller, Josh Knapp and Keegan Duart took second, while Basabakwins fifth and Juan sixth overall.
In the girls race Baker won in 20:08.7 and Ella Devlin of Elmira was fourth in 20:57.4. Madelyn Wise of Elmira was eighth in 21:28.3.
Suzie Sydlansky was 13th in 22:03.7 and Molly Doran of Elmira was 16th in 22:14.2. Hannah Sydlansky was 26th in 23:11.4. Christmas was 34th in 23:23.6 and Houck was 39th in 23:43.5. Tessa Dunan of Elmira was 55th in 25:09.1 and teammate Aubrey Stewart was 72nd in 26:10.4. Amber Mahmoud of Elmira was 82nd in 26:57.2. Elmira’s Mallory Duffy was 97th in 27:50.1 followed by Harrison in 27:51.5.
The Horseheads girls had a score of 101, Owego won at 67. Elmira took fifth at 138.
For the varsity boys Kowal was second in 15:22.9. Williams was 16:46 and Elmira’s James Lovell was 234d in 16:48.4. Hornsby was 25th in 17:11.7. Jack Sydlansky was 31st in 17:32.4. Jadon Lagonegro of Elmira was 35th in 17:37.9. Dordoni was 37th in 17:45.4.
Marino was 42nd in 17:56.9 and Gianni Page of Elmira was next in 17:58.5. Van Buskirk was 48th in 18:08.9. Aaron Skinkle of Elmira was 29th in 19:07.7. Jayden Roberts of Elmira was 77th in 19:43.7. Javare Allen of Elmira was 94th in 20:43.8 with teammate Wally Ferriter 101st in 20:59.
Elmira finished eighth as a team at 208 points. Horseheads had 95 points, with Vestal winning at 49.
For JV boys Horseheads had 56 points and Vestal won at 23. Elmira finished sixth at 160.
Basabakwins was fifth in 17:55.2 followed by Juan at 17:55.8. Bigelow finished 15th in 19:15.1 and Fears was 19th in 19:43.2 followed by Miller (19:45.2). Benjamin Hinman of Elmira was 23rd in 19:52.9. Knapp was 27th in 20:14.5 and Henry Mletzko was 29th in 20:17.6.
Duart was 30th in 20:19.5 followed by teammates Tanner Knapp (20:20.9), Carver Robbins (20:40) and Tobias Tremble (21:00.3). Dexter Bell was 38th in 21:03.9 and Daniel Mosher was 43rd in 21:09.9 with teammate Trent Woodward 49th in 21:40.2.
For modified boys Horseheads took fourth at 109 points.
Elmira’s Noah Wilbur was sixth in the modified boys race in 8:08 with Horseheads’ Noah Cloke 15th in 8:50. Gavin Harmer of Horseheads was 21st in 9:09.1. Max Brown of Horseheads was 23rd in 9:15.2 and Elmira’s Jackson Ward was 27th in 9:18.7.
Mason Dispenza of Horseheads was 42nd in 9:41.5 followed by Elmira’s Landon Stein in 9:45.6. Emry Bahantka of Elmira was 48th in 9:57.2. Horseheadsd’ Andrew Snedecor was 60th in 10:22.8. Rozzwell Weaver of Horseheads was 103rd in 15:36.6 and teammate Carson Bullers was 105th in 16:04.8.
Elmira’s Addie Fenton was seventh for modified girls in 9:25.7 and teammate Annalyse Ferriter was 30th in 11:20.5. Olivia Ward of Elmira was 38th in 11:44.9. Stella Loftus of Elmira was 53rd in 14:00.4.
