SOUTHPORT — The Gaffer City FC men’s soccer team picked up a 6-0 win over Nick Downing Futbol Club to move to 4-2 on the year.
Gaffer City was led by two-time man of the match Taylor Free love, a senior at Corning-Painted Post, with his first career UPSL hat trick.
Kytrell Stroman had two goals and Jammier Klee, of Elmira, had a goal. Both Stroman and Klee played at TC3 this past year.
Gavin Harrington, an Alfred graduate who is the head coach at Notre Dame, and Nate Freelove, a Corning grad and player at SUNY Plattsburgh, each had two assists. Corning graduate, a sophomore at Lock Haven, had an assist and had a clean sheet in goal.
“The guys have really been working at training to move the ball quickly to new space and play simple, whether moving forward or in the attack,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “They did a nice job of applying that today.”
Gaffer City FC will play its last home match of the season at 4 p.m. on July 5 at Corning Memorial Stadium.
