Southern Tier Sports ReportAddison Taft and Anthony Kitching were the athletes of the year at the Elmira Express sports awards recently.
Taft was the Eileen Collins Female Athlete of the Year and Kitching was the Pete Curkendall Male Athlete of the Year.
Taft, Ashy Wallace, Madisen Jones and Addisyn Chorney were the female nominees and the male nominees were Kitching, Spencer Wheeler, DJ Coprew and James Harris.
For volleyball Jones is the MVP and Camille Sconiers is the coach’s award winner. For girls’ swimming and diving Willow Roof is the ‘Molly’ Swimming Award winner, Ava Sherman won the coach’s award and Madelyn Cavalier was MVP.
Avyonna Brooks is the Jennifer Mustico Award (MVP) for cheerleading and Kallie Burdick won the coach’s award.
The girls’ soccer MVP is Taft and Wallace and Lilly Rice is the coach’s ward winner.
For boys’ soccer Wheeler won the Andy Lucas Memorial Award (MVP), Kitching won the Sam Kutchukian coach’s ward and Luca Capilli won the Seth Benedict Award.
Ella Devlin was the girls’ cross country MVP and Madelyn Wise was the coach’s award winner. James Lovell is the boys’ MVP and Jaydan Roberts is the coach’s award winner.
For football the Carl Raymond Award (offensive lineman) was Chance Olsen and the Tom Hurley (Team MVP) is Marcus Brooks. Tyron Hendrix was the Lou Pirozzolo Award (defensive lineman) winner and Ta’hjay Molina’Bacome is the Kevin O’Deal Award winner (Most improved), while Cam Wright and Brandon Bertelsen were the Dana Carpenter Award winners and Nolan Edwards is the coach’s award winner.
Jackson Cavalier won the team MVP for boys’ golf and Ryan Ferraro is the coach’s award winner.
Alexavier Wilder was the unified soccer MVP and Ben Cheuvront won the coach’s award winner.
Kylie Besecker was the MVP for girls’ tennis and Molly Cady was the coach’s award winner.
Aiden Ranck won the boys’ swimming and diving MVP and Cameron Eden was the coach’s award winner. Mariah Matias was the girls’ basketball Vanessa Morgan Award (Team MVP) and Wallace won the Mike HOlleran Basketball Award. Taft was the coach’s award winner.
James Harris won the boys’ basketball team MVP, Zyquise Matias was the coach’s award winner and Kitching won the defensive MVP, while Malaki Banks won most improved.
Emily Meck was the cheerleading Jennifer Mustico Award (team MVP) winner and Madison Aber won the coach’s award.
Alex Gublo won the boys’ bowling MVP and Trent Belloma was the coach’s award winner, while Madison Smith was the girls’ MVP and Bella Wood was the coach’s award winner.
Max Collins won the Natalie Phillips Award for boys’ wrestling and Ryder DePadua-Reese was the Jeff Reese Award winner (Most Outstanding Wrestler). Zahkye Jenkins was the coach’s award winner.
Mackenzee Davis was the girls’ wrestling MVP and Savannah Hartford won the coach’s award.
Molina’Bacome and Coprew were the indoor track MVP’s and Chase Smith was the field MVP. Ayden Coleman won the coach’s award. Devlin was the track MVP and Azvyanna Morgan was the field MVP. Wise was the coach’s award winner.
Chorney is the Mike Holleran softball award winner and Taft is the Bill Emmick (Team MVP) award winner). Sherman and Ryleigh Ogden were the coach’s award winners.
For baseball Joe Disbrow and Edwards were the coach’s award winners and Logan Demember and Aedan Palmer were the team MVP’s.
For girls’ golf Mary Collins was the MVP and Hannah Reynolds won the coach’s award. Atalanta McCoy and Ella Kennedy won the coach’s award for girls’ lacrosse and Sadie Norman and Reagan Reidy were MVP.
Trent Edwards won the coach’s award for boys’ lacrosse, Luca Capilli was defensive MVP and Landon Cook was offensive MVP.
For boys’ track and field Nicholas Shellenberger was the Mike O’Buckley Award (sportsmanship) winner and Braxton Houghtelling was the coach’s award winner. Kitching was the track MVP and John Charles Walton was the field MVP. Arrianna Jones was the track MVP for the girls and Isadorra Cyr was the field MVP and Alexys Bristow was the coach’s award winner.
Austin Manning was unified basketball MVP and Damion Locke was the coach’s award winner. Lukas Cole was unified bowling MVP and Jones, Kylie Stickler and Chorney won the coach’s award.
Jones was flag football MVP and Stickler and Miley Baker were coach’s award winners.
Russell Lewis was the team MVP for boys’ tennis and Kerry Klein was the coach’s award winner.
Tim Reidy won the Athletic Director Award.
Evan Martin won the Marty Harrigan Sportsmanship Award.
Max Collins, Jenkins and Joey Mastrantonio won the Mark Stephens Foundation Wrestling Scholarships. Mia Capilli won the Duff and Miranda Novitsky Memorial Scholarship and Ashaya Wallace was the Bea Stephens Award winner.
