NYSPHSAA TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING'S MCLAUGHLIN, MAHONEY EACH SET RECORDS, EARN TOP 3 FINISHES AT STATES (7 PHOTOS) (2025-06-13)

MIDDLETOWN — Cella McLaughlin and Jaxyn Mahoney of Corning each earned top three finishes, and broke school records on the first day of the New York State Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

McLaughlin was second in the long jump with a school, and section record of 19-feet, 8 3/4-inches. Corning’s Claire Devlin was 11th with a PR of 17-feet, 7-inches.

Mahoney was third in Class A public school in 1:54.08, a school record. The winner was James Ciaccio of Saint Anthony’s, who broke the meet record with a 1:49.64.

McLaughlin was second fastest in the prelims in the 100 hurdles in 14.13, just .01 off the top time in the prelims. She’ll run in Saturday’s final.

Makenna Keough was one spot out of making the finals in the Class C race, finishing ninth in 16.49.

Horseheads’ Carlo Cipolla was 15th in the 110 hurdles in 16.46. The Blue Raiders’ Mylynn Flint was 17th in the 100 meters in 12.77.

Wyatt Mcdonald of Corning was 18th in the 400 in 51.48.

Elmira’s Arrianna Jones was 20th in the 200 in 27.24.

Horseheads’ Alexus Borek was 16th in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.18.

Erica Bancroft, Flint, Elly Bachert and Borek finished 18th in the 400 relay for Horseheads in 49.93.

Jacob Blencowe of Corning was 11th in the discus at 155-feet, 6-inches.

Sophia Cimo of Corning was 11th in the shot put at 30-feet, 1 3/4-inches.
