SECTION 4 BASEBALL: ELMIRA EDGES ITHACA TO REACH SECTIONAL FINAL (2025-05-25)

WAVERLY — The Elmira baseball team edged Ithaca 2-1 to advance to the Section IV, Class AAA final.

Elmira took a 1-0 lead in the first. They added a run in the third to go up 2-0. Ithaca got a run back in the fifth, but that’s all the Express allowed in the game.

Logan Demember walked in the first inning and stole second. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch.

In the fourth Aedan Palmer walked and stole second. He scored on a Logan Palmer double.

Aedan Palmer worked five innings on the mound, allowing three hits and one run, striking out six. Demember pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts.

Logan Palmer had a double for the Elmira hit in the game.

Ester Elkough allowed just one hit in 5 1/3 innings, striking out 11, but he walked eight Elmira hitters in the game.

Elmira is at Corning on Wednesday, then is at Elmira on Friday. If needed a third game would be Saturday at the higher seed.
