SOUTHPORT — The Notre Dame softball team fell behind 5-0 after one inning and weren’t able to recover in a 9-4 loss to Southern Cayuga in the Section IV, Class C playoffs.
Down 5-0 after one inning, Notre Dame got two runs back in the third to get within 5-2.
Southern Cayuga went up 6-2, but two more runs by the Crusaders in the fourth cut the deficit to 6-4. However, Southern Cayuga scored three in the sixth to put the game away.
Lylie Colunio had a hit for Notre Dame and Emma Mallare had a pair of hits, with a double, and two runs scored.
Kayleigh Ayers had two hits, with a double, and two runs scored and Danasia Thompkins and Sadie Potter each had a hit in the game.
Layla Sullivan pitched for Notre Dame, striking out six.
