SECTION 4 GIRLS' LACROSSE: HORSEHEADS EDGES CORNING ON LATE LESE GOAL (24 PHOTOS) (2025-04-25)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads girls’ lacrosse team took a big lead and then came back late to beat Corning 12-11 on Thursday night.

Lauren Kozemko had four goals and an assist and Carlynn Sindlinger had four goals.

Lexi Lese had two goals and four assists and Alli Ruhmel and Anna Lowe each finished with a goal.

Kate Rought had seven saves in goal.

Veronica Nevins had three goals for Corning and Gracee Work and Brynna Walsh each had two goals.

Paisley Emmick, Piper Emmick, Riley Keeler and Kennedy Driscoll finished with goals for the Hawks.

Leslie Scudder had two saves and Julia Busch had two saves in goal.

Horseheads led 7-1, when Corning started to come back.

Nevins scored off a Driscoll assist and then Work scored off a Brynna Walsh assist. Work then scored again and Walsh scored.

Lese then scored for Horseheads and Lowe scored to push the lead back to 9-5.

Keeler scored and Nevins scored off an assist from Piper Emmick for Corning. Nevins then scored again to cut the deficit to 9-8 after three quarters.

Wash tied the game for Corning with 9:31 left and Driscoll scored off a Walsh assist to put Corning up 10-9 with 6:43 left.

Sindlinger tied things for Horseheads 39 seconds later, but with 4:34 left Paisley Emmick put Corning back on top.

Kozemko tied the game with 4:00 left and with 1:39 left in the game Lese scored the game winner for Horseheads.
