
JOHNSON CITY — The Corning softball team, ranked third in the state in AAA, won for the second straight day, topping Johnson City 10-1.
Corning scored in five of the first six innings, with three in the third and four in the sixth.
Lauren Teribury was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Kendall Curreri had two hits, with a double, three runs scored and an RBI.
Emelia Smith had two hits ,with three RBI and a run scored.
Matti Johnston, Lauren DeRosa and Kayleigh Sparks all had hits in the game. Johnston scored two runs and DeRosa had an RBI and two runs scored. Sophie Schoonover scored a run.
Johnston threw five shutout innings, striking out 11 and allowing no runs on two hits. Smith threw two innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out three.
Corning is now 7-1 on the season. The Hawks host Elmira Heights, ranked seventh in Class B, at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Corning.
