Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Elmira flag football team was edged by Union-Endicott 27-26 on Saturday morning.
Madi Jones had four touchdown catches off passes fromMiley Baker in the game for th eExpress.
Elmira led on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Baker to Jones, before U-E scored on a Stella Diamantakos pass to Ava Tesco and a one-point run by Aliza Post.
That extra point proved to be the difference.
U-E added to the lead as Diamantakos passed to Victoria Elliott to make it 27-20, but Elmira got an 11-yard touchdown from Baker to Jones to cut the deficit to one.
Elmira had the ball with a chance to win, but the Tigers picked off a pass to end the threat.
Elmira had a one-score lead after the second Jones touchdown catch from Baker, but Asia Passard caught a pass from Diamantakos and took off on a 70-yard touchdown. Diamantakos hit Post on the two-point try.
