HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING STAYS UNBEATEN WITH WIN OVER LANGLEY, VA. IN MYRTLE BEACH (2025-04-14)

MYRTLE BEACH — The Corning Hawks softball team moved to 4-0 on the year with an 8-7 win over Langley, Va. at the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Softball Classic.

Corning jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first, but Langley got four runs back in the bottom half of the inning.

Corning added two in the second to get the win, and held on after three runs by Langley in the fourth.

Emelia Smith was 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

Daphne Sherman had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Sophie Schoonover had two hits and scored a run.

Lauren Teribury had a double and a run scored and Lauren DeRosa had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, while Matti Johnston had a hit and scored a run. Keana Mann had a hit and Kendall Curreri scored a run.

Johnston struck out three and allowed five hits and Smith got one out on the mound, allowing one hit.
