
Corning’s Logan McNaney is now the all-time saves record holder at Maryland after a 13-8 win by the No. 6 Terms over No. 2 Ohio State.
McNaney’s first save of the game occurred on the doorstep at 8:28 in the first quarter and rewrote the record books.
McNaney broke Kevin O’Leary’s program record of 705 saves that had stood for over 40 years, set during his playing career from 1981-84. The Tewaaraton Watch list nominee finished the game with 10 saves, putting him at 715 for his career. He now has double-digit saves in 10 of 11 games this year.
The win by Maryland snapped an 11-game Ohio State win steak, the longest in the nation. Maryland is now 15-3 against Ohio State all-time.
McNane is also the program’s all-time wins leader with 54. He is back for his sixth season this year, the 2022 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player wears the program’s historic number one jersey this season. He’s the first goalie to wear the number since Melvin Stephenswears. McNaney is on the Tewaarton Watch List and has a chance to be the firs-ever goalie on the men’s side to win the award.
The team is coached by Corning West graduate John Tillman. The team is 134-13 under Tillman when it allows nine goals or lest.
Maryland is 9-2 on the year and 2-2 in Big Ten play.
