ELMIRA — Mattisen Johnston threw a complete game on the mound, and hit two of Corning’s four home runs, as the Hawks beat Elmira 16-3 on Wednesday.
Johnston struck out eight and allowed six hits on the mound.
At the plate Johnston hit two solo home runs and scored five times in the game. She also walked three times and was 2-for-2 at the plate.
Sophie Schoonover hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and had two hits, six RBI and two runs scored.
Seventh-grader Katie Grover hit her first varsity home run in the seventh inning, driving in two.
Emelia Smith had a hit and scored three runs and Daphne Sherman and Keana Mann each had a hit and scored a run.
Lauren Teribury had a hit and Kayleigh Sparks had a hit and three RBI.
Addisyn Chorney had two hits, with an RBI for Elmira and Addison Taft had two hits, with a double and a run scored.
Madison Smith had a hit and scored two runs and Maddy Cavalier had a hit and an RBI, while Abigail Decker had an RBI.
Ava Cornacchio struck out one in two innings and Aledia Agosto had three strikeouts in five innings.
Corning had three in the third, five in the fourth and three in the fifth to top Elmira 11-6 in the JV game.
Keira Brass had three hits, a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Lilly Allen had two hits, with a double and a triple, three RBI and two runs scored. Ava Northrup had two hits, an RBI and a run scored, with a double, and Clare McLaughlin had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.
Bella Gonzalez had a home run and a double, an RBI and two runs scored for Elmira and Lia Kozdemba had a double and a triple with two runs scored, while Anna Osborne had two hits, with a run scored.
