Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Thomas Edison softball team rolled to a 21-0 win over Trumansburg in their season opener on Thursday.
Edison scored seven in the first and five in the second. They added six in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Rosie Wheeler and Aurora Parlo combined on a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Wheeler struck out seven in three innings of one-hit ball and Parlo struck out all six batters she faced in two perfect innings.
Wheeler was 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored and Parlo had a 3-for-4 day with a triple, a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
Kailey Ripley had two hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Bella Moffe had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored.
Emily Aiello had a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Carissa Cowan had a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Tayler Burdick had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored.
Charlee Stroman had a pair of hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Cierra Davis had two RBI and a run scored, while Maycie Bennett scored two runs.
