ELMIRA — Addison Taft hit a grand slam in an eight-run second inning asa the Elmira softball team beat Johnson City 14-0 to open the city.
Ava Cornacchio threw a shutout on the mound and Elmira had 14 hits in the game.
After a scoreless first inning the Express scored eight in the second and had six in the fourth inning.
Taft had a double and a grand slam, with four RBI and two runs scored.
Ava Sherman had three hits, with an RBI and a run scored, and Cate Lambert had two hits, with two RBI and a run scored.
Addyson Chorney had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Madison Smith had a hit, and two RBI and two runs scored.
Marley Devlin and Madelyn Cavalier each had a double and scored two runs in the game.
Juliana Wilbur had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Ryleigh Ogden scored a run in the game.
Ava Cornacchio threw a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts in the game.
