Southern Tier Sports Report
KINGSTON — The season came to an end for the Horseheads girls’ basketball team in the Class AA regional final at Kingston as they fell to Warwick 40-31.

Megan Wolf led Horseheads with 20 points in the game.

Down all game, Wolf hit a two to get the Blue Raiders within 32-31, but they couldn’t convert down the stretch and had to foul.

“Kids had a great season as repeat Section IV, Class AA champions and three-time STAC West Division champs,” Horseheads coach Andy Scott said.

“Having six seniors that we are really going to miss and twelve solid returners from this sectional roster. Seniors have been great role models, hard workers and awesome teammates.”

Wolf capped her career with over 1,000 career points and had seven points in the second quarter and eight in the third. She had three threes in the game.

Senior Jordyn Gross had three points in the game.

The other points for Horseheads came from players who will be back next year as Maddie Ribble and Samantha Bonnell each hit threes in the game and Giana Hughey, who just got called up from JV for the playoffs, had two points.

The other seniors for Horseheads are Emma Kamas, Jessica Als, Leah Scott and Kaylyn Cook.
