SECTION 4 BOYS' WRESTLING: COLLINS, DEPADUA-REESE WIN TITLES AS ELMIRA TAKES 2ND AT SECTIONALS (12 PHOTOS) (2025-02-16)

BINGHAMTON —Max Collins and Ryder DePadua-Reese each earned trips to states as sectional champions, while Elmira placed second at the Section IV, Division I Championships at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on Sunday.

Elmira finished second at 170.5 points. Horseheads won at 275.5.

Elmira had 13 wrestlers place at sectionals.

DePadua-Reese won the 124-pound final, winning the title with a 15-0 technical fall win over Benjamin Ruffo of U-E.

DePadua-Reese had pins in 1:21 and 1:50 to get into the final.

Collins won the 145-pound title. He pinned teammate Scott Fairbanks in the final in 2:57. Collins had a 17-0 technical fall win in the semifinals. Fairbanks had a technical fall win 22-5 and a 14-10 win to get into the final.

Carter McKernan was second at 101 for the Express. He fell by technical fall 17-2 to Connor McAllister of Horseheads in the final.

McKernan had an 11-3 major decision win and a 2-0 decision to get into the final.

Dom Romeo was fifth at 108. He won his fifth-place match by fall in 1:37 over Shane Harlacker of Corning.

Jackson Watson of Elmira was sixth at 116. He forfeited his fifth-place match. Watson had a 12-1 major decision to get into the placement round.

Ben Guyette was sixth at 131. He fell 10-4 to Jobrien Backus of Johnson City in the fifth-place match. Guyette had a 19-2 technical fall win on the day.

Lavonte Gibbons was fifth at 138. He pinned Cyrus Schillenback in 45 seconds in the fifth-place match. Gibbons also had a pin in 2:47 on the day.

Josh Johnson was sixth at 160. He fell by technical fall 19-2 to Jaqwel Vaughn in the fifth-place match.  Johnson had a 6-1 win to get into the placement round.

Liam Ogden was fifth at 170. He won 12-5 over Aiden Rohde of Johnson City in the fifth-place match. Ogden had a pin in 4:43 to get into the placement round.

Mason Mack of Elmira was third at 190. He won by major decision 12-3 over Shazyar Rashid of Vestal in the fifth-place match. Mack had a 12-7 win to get into the third-place match.

Zahkye Jenkins of Elmira was third at 215. He won his third-place match by fall in 31 seconds over Lucas Blades of U-E. Jenkins had a pin in 32 seconds and a pin in 3:28 to get into the third-place match.

Brock Rosemark was fifth at 285. He won by fall in 1:55 over Ithaca’s Germain Harris in the fifth-place match.

Tucker Burnette was 1-2 at 152 with a 17-2 technical fall win on the day.
