WINDSOR — Elmira’s Mackenzee Davis was the first finalist for the Express this season as she finished as runner-up at 235 at the Windsor Lady Knights Invitational on Monday.
Davis had a 5-2 win over Cadence Trinidad, the fourth ranked wrestler in the state, in the semifinals. In the final she was pinned in 37 seconds by Peyton Mullin of Penn Yan, the top ranked wrestler in the state and defending state champion.
Davis won her quarterfinal match by pin in 2:54 over ZaNiyah Hawkins of Indian River.
Alexis Collins finished third at 94 pounds for the Express. She had a technical fall win 11-0 over Carly Bagg of United Wrestling and then beat Hannah Giammateo of United in the third-place match by fall in 4:06.
Ameera Mahmood was fifth and Alea Hartford sixth at 100. Mahmood pinned Hartford in 2:00 in the fifthplace match. She had pinned Hartford in 2:16 in the quarterfinals.
Callie Comfort was 0-2 at 114. Savannah Hartford was 1-2 at 126. She had a technical fall win 10-0 over Ambria Ames of Oneonta in her first match.
Atlantis Cheery was fifth at 138. She had four wins on the day, one by fall in 55 seconds in the first round. In the consolation rounds she had a pin in 1:11 and a technical fall win 10-0. In the fifth-place match she won by technical fall 10-0 over Abbigail May of Chenango Forks.
Mackenna Burnett was fifth at 152. Burnett had a pin in 1:59 over Emma Gage of Johnson City and then in the fifth-place match she pinned Jillian Howell of Forks in 32 seconds.
Xoie Barr was 1-2 at 185. She had a pin in 37 seconds over Yasmine Langille of Indian River on the day.
