WAVERLY — Corning’s Brenden Jardin-Reed broke the meet record in winning the diving compeittion at the Wolverine Invite over the weekend, while Corning made states in a pair of events at the meet.
Jardin-Reed won at 600.15, topping the field by nearly 100 points.
Horseheads’ Max Tenbus was fifth at 294.80 and teammate Robert Bigelow was seventh at 217.15.
Corning won the team title at 547 followed by Horseheads at 387. Corning won nine of the 11 events. Corning and Horsreheads combined to win every event, and they took eighth runner-up finishes between them.
Corning won the 200 medley relay in 1:40.79 followed by Horseheads at 1:41.58 and Corning’s B relay at 1:48.73.
Keith Huff of Corning won the 200 free in1 :59.07 and Alexander Lotocky of Horseheads was sixth in 2:08.56 while Diego Savash-Acuna of Horseheads was eighth in 2:09.62.
Joey Crisco of Corning won the 200 IM in 2:04.55 followed by Horseheads’ Thai Tran in 2:10.32. MJ Carro of Horseheads was eighth in 2:20.80 followed by Corning’s Kaeden Martinez (2:25.64) and Winston Wu (2:26.59).
JP Sierzant of Corning won the 50 free in 22.54 followed by teammate Marvin Reimsnyder in 22.67. Devin Sullivan of Horseheads was fourth in 23.19 followed by Corning’s Mark Hong (23.53) and Liam Gill (23.72). Drake Ernst of Horseheads was 10th in 24.87.
Reimsnyder won the 100 fly in 55.94 followed by Horseheads’ Thang Tran (56.88) and Corning’s Shawn De Pedro (58.51) and John McKane (1:00.78). Horseheads’ Liam Kane was sixth in 1:03.42 and Nicholas Matteson of Corning was eighth in 1:06.19.
Sullivan was third in the 100 free in 50.73 followed by Hong (52.67). Gill was sixth in 54.85 and Kegan Kent of Horseheads was eighth in 55.70.
Huff was second in the 500 free in 5:28.73 and Corning’s Jack Casper was fourth in 5:44.80. Joseph Wood of Horseheads was sixth in 5:46.03 and Lotocky was 10th in 6:08.06.
Corning won the 200 free relay with a state cut time of 1:29.73 followed by Horseheads in 1:#7.39. Corning’s B relay was fourth in 1:40.64.
Thang Tran won the 100 back in 57.87 followed by Corning’s McKane (59.38) and Ethan Yarnell of Corning was fifth in 1:04.91, while Martinez was seventh at 1:05.45 and Kyle Williams of Corning was 10th in 1:06.53.
Crisco won the 100 breaststroke in a state-cut time of 59.71 followed by De Pedro in 1:02.16 and Thai Tran in 1:02.23. Corning’s Derek Guo was sixth in 1:08.33 and Kane was ninth in 1:12.86 followed by Wu in 1:13.
Corning won the 400 free relay in 3:35.08 with Horseheads third in 3:44.26 and Corning’s B relay next in 3:55. Horseheads B relay was seventh in 4:10.15 followed by Corning’s C relay in 4:15.07.
