Southern Tier Sports ReportWith Christmas this week the schedule is light, but things pick up at the end of the week with the Josh Palmer Fund Holiday Tournament, along with the Windsor Wrestlling Tournament taking place.
Here’s a day-by-day look at what’s on tap this week, including how many events will be held each day.
MONDAY (2)
* The Horseheads and Edison wrestling teams head to Binghamton.
* The Corning boys’ basketball team hosts Vestal in a makeup game from a contest that was postponed on Friday.
TUESDAY-THURSDAY
No events on tap from Christmas Eve through Dec. 26 with the holidays.
FRIDAY (9)
* The Horseheads and Corning wrestling teams head to the Windsor tournament.
* The Horseheads girls’ basketball team takes on Starpoint at the Josh Palmer Fund in the girls’ national division. Elmira’s girls take on North Rockland. The Corning girls take on Cardinal O’Hara.
* The Edison girls take on Ithaca in a regional game at the Palmer Tourney, the Edison boys meet Cardinal O’Hara.
* The Notre Dame boys meet Mansfield and the girls take on Seton Catholic at the Palmer Tourney in regional games.
* The Elmira track and field teams are at Cortland.
SATURDAY (6)
* The Horseheads and Corning wrestling teams head to the Windsor tournament.
* The Horseheads boys’ basketball team takes on St. Peter’s in the national bracket of the Josh Palmer Fund Tournament. Elmira takes on Calvert Hall.
* The Elmira girls’ wrestling team heads to Midlakes High School.
* The Corning track team is at RIT.
* The Corning boys’ basketball team takes on Trumansburg in a regional game at the Palmer Tourney.
