HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' SWIMMING & DIVING: ELMIRA OPENS SEASON WITH WIN AT JC (2024-09-06)

JOHNSON CITY — The Elmira girls swimming and diving team opened the season with a 93-64 win at Johnson City.

In the 200 medley relay Elmira’s Payton Potts, Maren Novotny Madelyn Cavalier and Ava Sherman won in 2:13.34 and in the 200 free Novotny won in 2:35.20 followed by teammates Leah Church (2:43.36) and Scarlett Hollenbeck (2:44.56).

Bridget Hagan was second in the 200 IM in 2:53.58 followed by Eleanor Hagan in 3:04.92. Sherman won the 50 free in 28.89 followed by Alana Brink (32.93) and Dotts (34.27).

Ellie Johnson was second in diving at 118.40 and in the 100 fly Cavalier won in 1:10.72 with Bridget Hagan third in 1:21.29.

Sherman won the 100 free in 1:06.08 followed by Church in 1:09.34 and in the 500 free Novotny was second in 7:09.20 followed by Dotts in 7:24.32.

Aubrey Newark, Eleanor Hagan, Bridget Hagan and Johnson won the 200 free relay in 2:10.19 and in the 100 back Cavalier had the top time as an exhibition in 1:13.96 followed by Hollenbeck (1:25.05).

Newkirk had the second best time in the 100 breaststroke as an exhibition in 1:35.09 followed by Alyssa Murphy in 1:38.68.

Elmira’s Dotts, Sherman, Novotny and Cavalier had the best time in the 400 free relay as an exhibition in 4:37.15.
