Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — Elmira got an equalizer from Gracelyn Wheeler, but in the end an overtime goal was the difference as the Express fell to Chenango Forks 2-1 in double overtime in their season opener.
Forks struck first on a goal by CC Kasmarcik before Wheeler converted a penalty kick to tie things.
Delaney Billbe had four saves for Elmira and Fiona Brennan had eight for Forks.
Forks had six shots and a corner kick and Elmira had nine shots and six corner kicks.
Elmira is home against Maine-Endwell at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
