Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison volleyball team is back on the court getting ready for the start of the new season as they kicked off practices this week.
“I’m a little anxious, but we are ready for sure,” Edison coach Alyssa Covas said. “We are excited for the upcoming seniors and the JV team. We have a tournament coming up in Corning and we are excited for that, it will be our first tournament.”
The Spartans worked through the summer playing summer league, and have some things they are still working on as they head into the season.
“Our communication has to get a little better, but we’ll be working on that and it’s just a matter of being able to play with different players. I think they’ll do well.”
And, the Spartans have a strong group of upperclassmen with all but one player on the roster being a senior or junior.
“We have seniors returning, so it should be a positive outlook for the year and some really good upcoming upperclassmen,” Covas said.
