Southern Tier Sports ReportA number of local athletes wrestled for team United at the Thousand Island Duals.
The team ended up in second place with a 4-1 record on the day.
United is a club located on South Main Street in Athens. Horseheads wrestlers Josh Knapp, Tanner Knapp, Coleton Owen, Zack Schrage and Seamus Carroll are part of the team.
The team also includes Dalton Davis and Matthias Welles of Waverly; Brythton Yale of Towanda, Cole Patrick of Wyalusing, Trevor Middendorft of Newark Valley and Trenton Barrett of Athens.
Welles was 5-0 on the day. Each of the five Horseheads wrestlers went 4-1 on the day.
The team won 52-13 over Old North, 40-13 over Mohawk Valley, 49-16 over Warhorse and they won 33-27 over Niagara in the semifinals. In the final they fell to New England Gold 31-29.
