HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING FALLS AT VESTAL IN SEASON OPENER (2024-03-26)

VESTAL — The Corning Hawks opened the season with a 5-1 loss at Vestal on Tuesday night.

Vestal got things started with a solo home run from Holy Cross commit Kendall Brady and they added a run in the second inning.

Lauren DeRosa drove in the Corning run and went 1-for-2 on the day. Daphne Sherman and Matti Johnston also had hits for Corning on the day. Peyton Sullivan had a hit and stole two bases on the day. Sullivan also scored the Corning run.

Sullivan started for Corning and she allowed four hits in 4 1/3 innings, striking out four. She allowed three runs, two earned.

Johnston worked 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs.

Reilly Storer allowed four hits and one run, striking out 11 in the complete game for Vestal.
